How much did they sell for when new?

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but I have searched the forum and cannot find the answer.
Does anyone know the range of selling prices for Fiat Spiders, when they were brand new?
Specifically, the years 1979, 80, 81, 82?.....

Some of those prices are pretty far off the mark.

I bought my 71 124 Spider the minute the 1608 was available and the sticker was $3,600, $200 more than the 1438 was selling for.

My 1969 850 Spider was purchased new for $2,000 with the optional radio.

When I lived in Oklahoma the titles listed the new price of the vehicle. I remember my '78 was ~$6000, and the '80 carb was ~$9000.

Man, thanks to all who have responded.
I love this forum -- it's like "ask and you shall receive".
So it looks like around $8K to $10K would be a pretty accurate range for the early '80's cars.
That equates to about $22.4K to about $28K in today's money.

i bought a new 82 turbo spider from a dealer in 1983 for 12,000.00

I bought my 79 off the showroom floor for $8100.00. That was was sticker plus dealer options. The dealer threw in the sales tax. Rootbeer metallic which was either 400 or 600 extra, power windows, luggare rack, Sona radio by dealer (think like 235), pinstripe by dealer(35) and rustproofing by dealer and that was 250.00.

My '78 Spider was stickered at $7750 and they gave me $1800 for my trade-in of a '73 Ford Capri V-6 (which had cost about 2600). They threw in the Momo wheels, oil pressure gauge and halogen lamps (which still work). I was happy with the deal.

That was a neat car. One Saturday in 1972 I pulled up to a downtown Mercury dealer in my worn out 63 Impala with the full intention of buying a new Mercury Capri. It was to be my first new car. Road & Track, my bible, along with all the other buff books just raved about it.

But they didn't have any in stock, didn't know when they'd get any and frankly had no interest in even selling me one.

Disappointed I walked out of the showroom. As I was about to climb back into my car I noticed another car dealer across the street, a Fiat dealership. So I strolled over to take a look. It was late in the afternoon, there wasn't anyone in the place but one lone sales guy and one or two Fiats in the little showroom.

The maroon 124 was a beauty. I walked around it, opened the door and slid into the seat. I hadn't considered one of these, although I knew they were rated far ahead of the British competition. The sales guy saunters over:: "nice huh? Want to take one for a test drive?". "No" I say, "its nice but I'm looking for a four seater." "Oh", he says," too bad, but its really quiet around here, let's just take one out, you can see how it rides."

The paperwork was finished in a hour or so.

List price on my '82 from Graffeo's Jaguar, Alfa, FIAT, Subaru in Birmingham AL, was $11,995, plus $489 for alloys and $199 for something I can't make out for a total of $12,683.
This was during the final days of FIAT USA, so a $2499 credit was offered for accepting the car knowing that FIAT may pull out of the U.S., and there's a disclaimer on the sales slip to that effect.
Grand total before TT&R was $10,284

I remember paying ~$9,500 for a brand new X1/9 in 1979 in NH. Loved that car, 135,000 trouble free miles, 2 trips to the West Coast in it.
