Well I am looking to do an engine in my (inherited from my grandfather) 1980 spider. I'd like to get an engine in there before he passes so he can ride around in it again, as he talks about wanting to.
I was thinking about a "performance" engine from midwest124 as I am Located in Wisconsin and could drive to get it, then I ran across funimported's website and figured buy a used one so he can ride in it which would allow me to slowly rebuild the engine tats in it myself. Midwest 124 hasn't gotten back to me and funimporteds phone has been saying busy for a couple days now. Does anyone know if either is still in business?
Thanks guys,
oh I still have the rolling chassis (my other fiat) that I'd like to put a v6 or v8 in. I had a thread on here years ago but didnt have time to do more than strip the car because of college, now adult life hasn't given me the oportunity either. But i swear something will happen soon, if not I may have to sell it as the family will probably have to sell my grandpas shop where the gutted car and spare parts car is store in the next couple years.

Yup, this is a busy time of the year. If you want to drive it asap, then get a good used engine. Don't discount getting a cheap runner/parts car/rustbucket and transplanting the engine.

Re: Engine rebuild
Parts cars that run are a great resource. The other advantage that they offer is that you can drive the car while building up your other engine.

Thanks guys, I was able to get a hold of them, one was out of stock and the other is just a tad out of the do it this week price range. however i am thinking about having a local shop doing the bottom half and then ordering the head from them. we shall see what the next week or two brings.
