Morningwood Steering Wheel Installed
I got up the nerve to buy a Morningwood wheel for $150, new, on-line.
I am a sucker for exposed rivets on wooden wheels.
Doesn't have the prestige of a Nardi, but I like it. No, I love it!

I like the look. Nice
At least you didn't leave the "Morning Wood" aka NPT horn button on
(nocturnal penile tumescence)

Thanks, Dan.
Thanks, Jay. (your wooden Momo looks great, too, btw)
I don't know. To me, a wooden wheel in a sports car just feels "right".

Last Saturday the wife and I took her up through the Poudre Canyon, about 50 miles past Ted's Place.
Man, that is the perfect drive in a Spider with the top down.
We even saw a moose by the side of the road about 40 miles in!
You, me, and wetminkey should do that drive this fall. We can have our own little mini Spider rally.

Re: Morningwood Steering Wheel Installed
Did a little fine-tuning with color coordination today.
Changed shifter boot to black, changed shift knob to black, changed horn-button surround ring to black.
I think it looks a little more coordinated now.

Looks fantastic Dave!
I too like the exposed fastener look, and the exposed ring between the wood.
Great color combo!

Re: Morningwood Steering Wheel Installed
Was it a direct bolt on or was an adapter required?

Re: Morningwood Steering Wheel Installed
Ha!
Thank you guys.
Bob,
It's a direct bolt-on -- no adapter required -- Momo bolt pattern, same as all late model Spiders.
Matt,
I'd love to get the short shifter -- looks like Mark is currently out of them, though.
SoFla,
I can't wait to see your car when it is finished. Your Black, white, red color combo is stunning and your quality of work looks amazing.

Thanks Dave, if you are looking for a short shifter, I'm pretty sure I have an extra in my tool box. I'll take a look for it if you are interested.

Re: Morningwood Steering Wheel Installed
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm interested in these steering wheels. I can't really find any review online about them, and was pleased to find this thread. Focodave, how has your experience been with the wheel, and what sort of steering hub/boss did you need to mount it? Also, how deep is the wheel? And with the boss you chose, is it too close for a guy with a 30" inseam you think?focodave wrote:I got up the nerve to buy a Morningwood wheel for $150, new, on-line.

I am still loving the wheel. It is about 1.6" deep. It mounted to the stock hub with no adapter required (my car is a 1980).
I like a thin wooden wheel with rivets showing (just like Jay Leno likes 'em).
This wheel fits the bill perfectly and they appear to be selling for about 20 or 30 dollars less now than when I bought mine.
My guess is that it would not be too close for you. Hard for me to say for sure, though, as I am 6'2" with a 35" inseam.
