Rear interior panels - Need them?

Post by lawprofdave »

I have black plastic pocketed trim with rubber drain tubes, under my tan rear interior panels. The black plastic pieces are self-destructing and I am trying to figure out if I really need them if I do not plan on driving on rainy days. Also what are they called and does anyone still make replacements? Thanks.

you only need them if you dont want your floors to rust out :P

if you truly can say that you will never drive in rain, or ever be accidentally caught out in the rain, then its fine to leave them out. the earlier spiders did not have them, they had rust issues in that area. but the drainage was set up differently without them. i would venture to say that someone here who has parted out a spider will have a set, or if there is someone with a parts car they can pull a used set for you. i have really never seen a set go bad or deteriorate. but i am sure it can and will happen

I assume you wash your car on a regular basis.

So if I am searching for replacements, what are they called?

go on the AR website and look thru the interior stuff or give them a call and tell them what you are looking for. They will know what you want.
