Here's Brad's diagrams:

Like magicwrench says don't go messing with wires etc. But - I would get on my hands and knees and gently look inside the ignition switch wiring and see if anything is charred etc. Take a look under the hood, gently look inside wiring looms and see if there's any tell-tale molten plastic (even if working fine).

I knew a guy who accidentally arc'd the alternator stud over onto an inadvertently stripped piece of wiring and melted the wiring back into the main loom.... and then spent a long time unpicking it all before replacing the molten piece.

Just because it's running (and we hope it is!) it doesn't mean it's fixed.

Holy Cow...... magicwrench is right.

The Autozone guys didn' know what they were talking about. I decided to get it inspected by a qualified alternator rebuild shop and they determined that the alternator was good. It was putting out 13.65 v. I will check the fuse when I get home.

I am so grateful, Thank you.

Well everything is back together and she started right up.

Everything works except for the rear brake lights, soldered the boards but still no lights.

The brake light switch is located on the brake peddle bracket. It has a white and a red wire going to it. The white wire gets voltage from fuse 1 (A) the red wire goes to the lights. Have you checked voltage at the switch??

OK found it and removed it, tested it with a meter and it failed. Installing a new one tonight.
