BEWARE: Willie Wright (and MOSES CORDOVA)

I've been approached by Willie Wright, 6335 Undercliff Ave, Bronx, NY 10453, trying to sell me a used rubber portion of the driver's side carpet. I wondered if any of you have done any business with him?
The reason I ask, is because he asked $200 initially. I told him that was too much, and he accepted my offer of $40 + shipping. He asks that I Western Union $50 to him, and I don't do that with people I don't know.

I asked "Willie" if this was a scam, and if this was him, and he sent back a "comforting" message, and informed me that as soon as he got my payment, he would ship my GUN!
He also calls his "business" Willie Auto Spares. willie.wspares@gmail.com.
He got info from our forum's Cars/Parts Wanted section.

this has scam written all over it. At best, he is going to have some generic piece of rubber he will send you. At worse, your money will just buy you a set of excuses to why your money isnt returned.

I agree, azruss. I haven't heard from the fellow since this AM when I called his bluff.
Is there another way I can warn the forum members about this guy, since he obviously pulled this info from our "Car/Parts Wanted" section? I have a post on there about this, but is there anything else I can do for the members en mass?

I did tell him I was not comfortable doing business in that way.
And it worked out for the best, since 4uall was able to find the mats I was looking for in his old parts and things. I expect I'll have them next week. That is the proof of a very true member of this forum,...I only hope that I can provide the same kind of favor to another member somewhere down the road! I just wanted everyone to know.

I know some do not like the PM system, but it makes it more difficult for scammers like this to contact you.

Unfortunately I suspect some will not be as astute as people here or some other sites and might fall for his scam. One in a hundred will likely give him impetus to continue.

I generally catch these types of guys who email on my business website. Often they tend to be overly polite and try to make me arrange transport on a product one would likely come and pick up.

A common practise lately is a cold call from a tech claiming to be from Microsoft concerning your speed. His goal is to seek control of your computer and then ask for a credit card number to restore what he wipes out.
Trust me, nobody from Microsoft wants to talk to you.

I can tell you from personal experience (dealing with the aftermath) that these guys often end up in alley with the crap beaten out of them or dead.
