all you have to do to use the adjustable rails is bolt the seat tabs to the rails instead of directly to the floor. I doubt that you will find anything that bolts directly to the Fiat rails

The problem lies in that the adjusting mechanisms under the seat are too wide to fit down inside the pan... Or im too dull to find a way to make it fit. Ill probably just find a set of seats with narrower... stuff.

Hi Launie:

Sorry for the delay in responding. It was some years ago that I installed the Fiero seats, but I do remember that I removed the Fiero rails, made a frame using flat stainless steel bar to which the Fiat rails were bolted. The install went right in then. You are right Charlotte is at Spidercenter. Thanks for the compliments. I only wish I had more time to tinker as there are always little things I want to do, but can;t seem to find the time. But there is nothing better then hearing that DOHC rev; and Charlotte always starts and runs strong even after weeks sitting in the garage.

Thanks. I'll set mine into place and check out the fit and look. No rush anyway. :D

I got a set of seta from a 99 miata. You sit a little higher in it. I have th epassenger seat in it. I sit a little higher in it, but not too bad. I havent put the driver seat in due to some repair work I have to do the th efloor board. Miata seats fit. I used 1/4" flat steel stock, and bolted it to the seat rails, on the floor pan. Ran it from side to side on the front, drileld th eholes to mount the new seats in the steel. Then I drilled holrs through the floorbaord for teh rear mounts. I then made risres for the rear mounts, due to a height difference.
In my opinion, this was/is the best set up, because I didn't change anything on the original set up. If I decide to go back to stock, they'll still fit. I'll then be left with 2 1/2 holes on each rear floor board to fix.
I took pics of the install of the pass seat. I have been waiting to post them until I have th edriver seat finished.

What about Fiero seats, do they work in Fiats? I have a few of those laying around, and I know of a guy who stitches them up for MG's an other cars. I'm a 'low back' guy myself.

Im not a fan of low back seats. I'm a 6'1, and the head rest is not tall enough. Ina good rear end accident, there is a signifigant risk of breaking my neck. I know this sounds paranoid, but in my line of work, I've seen people that could have walked away, or suffered non serious injuries die due to low seatbacks/no head rest.
I realise these cars leave alot to be desrired when it comes to safety aspects. But if I can make it safer, I will. I look at seats the same as roll bars. They take away from the look of the car, but are worth it fro the additional safety.
