Trunk Floor Board Template

Post by Niagarafiat »

I am working on a 1980 that I recently picked up. I am looking to get a hold of a Trunk floorboard Template. Does anyone know where I can get one and make my own floor board. Unfortunately the car came without one.

Good luck finding one to borrow.
I need to do this too. I can tell you the floorboard is 2 pieces. I plan on making my own template with paper or cardboard.
Same with carpet except its one piece.

I don't have a template, but I could take a picture of my original 2pc trunk floorboard that's in my car and post it with some measurements. It's a '79 Spider. Would that help you?

If someone can take pics of their truck boards, straight on and with a reference measurement, I will digitize them so people can print them out full scale at staples. I have my own large format printer and I've been googling around for a printable template. I can post them up on my fiat blog for everyone to download.

Actually, it seems as though I have the carpet and one of the wood pieces. Didn't realize it. I still get bits and pieces from the PO now and again. The original wood piece doesn't seem to fit all that nice. Maybe I will design my own using the rug and one piece of wood as a jumping point. If I make digital templates I will post them.

Hey Niagarafiat, I just returned to this post for the first time and found your response,...wish you had PM'ed me! I'll get a pic right away and post it with measurements. Mine are original and are made of dense fiberboard.

I just put up a post about how I made a template on my blog. On the right column I put a link for you to download it. Go for it! You can print it using the "tile" setting in your print drive and then tape a ton of paper together, or head down to an office supply store with a large format printer and have them print it out (less than $2 around here). Make sure you tell them to print at 100%.

It should get pretty darn close to fitting. You may need to remove a little material, I recommend printing it, cutting it out and making sure it fits in your trunk. Not sure if every car is completely identical. I need to make a plastic cover for my hoses. You should be able to rig something up on your own.

I make no guarantees that it will be perfect, but it should be a great starting point for anyone without rugs.

COOL! I'm glad you got the pics, Niagarafiat! I sure hope that helps you fabricate a set of trunk floor boards. And with the template download from jimmycakes401, you should have NO PROBLEM making either the boards or a carpet!
I have new carpet (as of about 2004), and I doubt if you'd need a pic, but let me know! My car is obviously in very good shape for it's age, and is nearly all original, so I'd be delighted to provide any pics of the original state, if I can. I need to post this elsewhere so everyone knows,...
Glad you can use the information!
