Transmission Interchange?

Post by MadBeez »

Looking for a transmission for my 71 1608 and found an 82 with low miles, near me and cheap. Will this work?

yes!

1. the speedometer will not be accurate, as the gearing on the speedo drive will be different.

2. if your car had a 1438 in it, the bellhousing will be different. can be a direct bolt on swap

3. the shifter, if yours is original, it is a pull up for reverse, the 82 will be a push down, you can interchange the complete assemblies with no issue, or use the one that came with the new trans.
