Hello,
My steering is not smooth when turning to the right. I believe the problem is the steering box.
What is the easiest way to remove the tie rods without damaging them? Ball joint removers look like they will damage the rubber boots.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Steering box replacement
there is a tool that looks like a flat C clamp the removes them without damaging the boots. A pickle fork will destroy the boots

If you're lucky & don't have the extractor tool Mark described, a good whack with a hammer on the outside of the eye in which the tie rod bolt is held often breaks it loose (think "shock" when you're thinking of what you're trying to do)

Re: Steering box replacement
Here's the one I use for the tie rods:
I bought it from here: http://www.drivewerks.com/catalog/shopc ... 0_pg43.htm
and I just used it last night to pop the tie rods off the car I'm taking apart. The one thing I noticed is I ran out of thread before it popped loose so I inserted a small nut where the tool bolt hits the opposite end to give myself more thread. Worked like a charm!
Quick question: Did you check the oil in the steering box and idler?
