78 spider 1800 carb issues?
78 spider 1800 carb issues?
Hello all, I have a 78 1800 with a 2bbl Weber carb and it starts and idles fine but upon hitting the gas/ acceleration there is a pop/crackle coming from the barrel closest to the drivers fender. It's not really a "backfire" more like a pop. It's been suggested that it is a lean condition or an intake leak. The vacuum lines and intake seem to be ok. Could it be a stuck valve? I'm not sure as I do not have any history on this car. Accelerator pump related? Also how do you adjust the mixture to make it richer. I'm not sure which screw would do that. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

See if your accelerator pump is working. With the motor off, remove the air cleaner lid and look inside the primary venturi (the one closest to the fender) and work the throttle linkage. You should see gas squirting into the bore each time you briskly work the linkage. If not, you probably need a new accelerator pump diaphragm.

Hello All,
Just wanted to say thanks for the input. Ended up taking the car to a shop and had to replace both cams etc..
As So Cal Mark stated it had worn three cam lobes down. Thanks Again Scott
