Transmission rebuild and oil leak

Hello all,

I live near Phoenix and am looking for a place that will rebuild my 1981 fiat transmission. I have only been able to find one place that will do it. They are asking $850 without parts. Is this about the amount I should expect?

I also have oil dripping from the bottom of the oil pan. My guess it that I have to replace the oil pan gasket. Is this something better done by a pro?

Do you have a problem with the gearbox requiring a rebuild? Regarding the oil leak, it's a very simple job to do. It's a simple gasket replacement.
