Ok, just popping in to say replacing this carb is the best decision I've yet made with this car.
I got the carb on yesterday, today I got a new air filter (crazy bug style!) but I had to mcguyver a bracket for the filter. So I worked on it for a while, and eventually got it running for a minute when my last mcguyver failed and sprayed coolant all over the engine. Sigh. So I cleaned it up a bit and fixed it all back up enough to get it running for a minute. watched the fan come on and go off twice...
Why do they put the adjustment screws in the stupidest of places?!? I found my tiny screwdriver and got her stable and 'tuned' by ear. Close enough, it's getting dark. I want to drive. I take her out gingerly. I drive around for a bit but I'm super-nervous, so I'm just driving real nice. I get up onto the quiet road. I press the pedal down all the way for the first time...
GRRRRRRRROWL!!!!!! FFFFFWWWWOOOOOOOOSSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!
When that second barrel opened up she just screamed out and surged forward. It was the most amazing feeling. I think I came in my soul. I did it a couple more times just for fun then brought her back home, silently making a checklist of all the other problems I could still hear rattling around, grinning like a maniac. She is getting better. And she still sounds angry!

1. Seems like something should plug onto here. What is this?
2. Hose was here, can I just close this?
3. Hose was here, can I just close this?
4. Is this a hole? Or the one next to it?
5. What's this here, and should I remove it? The hose on left looks crimped.
6. This is the big arm that sticks out above the engine. I don't seem to see these on other people's engines, and mine looks like it may be plugged by PO. Should i leave it alone? What is it?

On Picture A, how does the piping on for "6" come off? I can get the plug out, but cannot figure out how this is really attaching to the manifold.
Thank you for any help,
Dan

Never mind, figured it it out doing a few more google searches. There is another allen bot inside the pipe end connection that holds it to the manifold. You can use the same allen wrench that was used to pull out the plug.
