How to mount the battery in the trunk

Post by Funcar »

My car has the battery in the trunk. When I purchased the car it had no battery. I do have the plastic cover. Can someone send me a picture and what are the parts I need to hold the battery in place?

.... unless you've got a later spider when it's on the side of the trunk.

On my'77, the battery sits in the battery box with the negative terminal on the right side. It is held in place by an angle bar that spans across the top of the battery along the rear edge, with 2 J-bolts which hook into holes in the battery box and pass through corresponding holes in the angle bar. Nuts then clamp the battery into place. The plastic cover is then located on the studs which are attached to the flanges of the battery box and mating nuts keep it in place. There's also a thin foam gasket between the cover and the battery box flanges. Hope this helps.
