Best stereo set up for the money

Post by paintdudeluke »

I spent under $300 and threw together a budget system that does the job pretty well. I can still upgrade any item later if desired but its pretty good now considering the sound environment.

fronts - alpine 2 way 6.5 ~65
rears - Lanzar 3 way 8" ~55
Amp - BOSS 2504 4 channel ~80
EQ - Audiopipe 9 band ~45
Sub - 12" HiFonix ~free from buddy, kinda crappy but works ok
My head unit is my phone.

The cover over the rears give me a small shelf for whatever and stealthifies the setup from crooks. The top clears everything when its down, the bass is directed forwards pretty well so it bumps pretty good, and the balance between the front and rears is about perfect. Before I built the shroud over the rears the lanzars in the back screamed over the front alpines and spit in your ear a little too hard. The amp wires are only a foot long jumped right to the battery and the EQ/Amp power switch in a toggle switch under the dash.

Not bad. Anything you can do to utilize that back seat area is good. I have some JBL 6x9's that I want to put in the back seat along with some storage bins

I drove this car for 6 months with no music. A stereo is nice and hard to leave off, but part of enjoying this thing was just being in tune with the drivetrain racing around town. A stereo kinda steals that from you.
