Hood liner for 84
Just finished paint job and the old oily, shreded liner will not do. Anyone have ideas to fabricate one? Not interested in silver material, carbon fiber, or molded fiberglass 'cause i want it to look original.
Re: Hood liner for 84
Those things are impossible to find. I don't know how to make one. I ended up using the same stuff I use for sound deadening. "silver stuff"

Re: Hood liner for 84
I bought vinyl/nitrile closed cell foam from Wicks Aircraft supply. It is fire retardant and oil resistant made for airplane bulkhead insulation Paid $52 for a 4' x 4' 1/2 in. sheet. Should be enough to cut to fit. Will update when installed.

Re: Hood liner for 84
I would very much like to see pics of that! The felt liner on my 80 is an embarrassment every time I open the hood.

It will be a month or so by the time I get the car reassembled. I will post pics as soon as I can. Wish me luck!

Re: Hood liner for 84
Boris61: Were you able to complete the installation of the aircraft insulating material for your underhood liner? I am fed up with the felt one-piece stock liner that keeps getting bunged up on my '80-FI (large bump hood) and want to put something else in. Any pics if it is completed?
Thanks!
Pete

Re: Hood liner for 84
Id like to see the results also as I have an 84. My liner looks its age but don't want to remove until I have a plan. I thought of removing it cleaning, replacing the fiberiouse(spelling) material and dying the cover to black. Please post pic when ready and good luck.

Re: Hood liner for 84
I refurbished mine.. I am happy with results. Search my posts. Can't post a link at the moment.
Lay on some fiberglass mat and resin in the ratty spots. Support liner so the bends and humps are retained. Then brush resin all over the liner, it will soak in and stiffen the liner. Buy headliner from a fabric store and use spray on adhesive. Work one half at a time.
