Gasket for Abarth exhaust

Post by FiatJim »

The exhaust on my '73 spider developed a leak. I had an Abarth [NOS} exhaust system installed last year. Unfortunately, the 2 gaskets between the header and front pipe need to be replaced. When the mechanics separated the sections only one gasket was in place and it was in horrible condition. I contacted the vendor who installed the system and was told that they did not have the parts. So, I need to broaden the search.

Specifically, I need help to find 2 replacements.
"Donut" gasket - "walker number" 31408, 15/8" ID, 13/32 thickness.

Anyone have a couple they can sell?
Thanks for the help.

These doughnut gaskets are available at your local auto parts store.

Thanks guys,

The ebay picture looks right. I would have liked some specs/measurements. I have bought parts off ebay before and even though the part numbers were advertised to be the same, the actual parts weren't. :?

The local shops do not have this gasket in stock, so I will have to travel into Binghamton and troll through some of the parts stores.

Not in the 4 parts store and 3 muffler shops I visited today.

I'll give the ebay store a try and hope for the best.

Probably because if you don't give them a make and model the ppl at parts store don't know how to look up parts.

Csaba: At 2 of the stores, you were right - the young guys hadn't a clue. At the others and the muffler shops, the common response was something like: "yeah, we used to have those. Let me go look." They would bring out a couple of parts, but they didn't match up (I have one of the used gaskets).

I just bought 2 on Ebay. Well, I THOUGHT I had. The tranasaction went through and then the seller canceled the transaction. Seem his "inventory software" was inaccurate. He really DIDN'T have 2 gaskets to sell.

So, the search resumes,.......
