Temperature Gauge Sensor Replacement

Post by tedy »

I am going to replace the temperature gauge sensors on my 81 Spider. Do I need to use something on the threads? The sensors are brass and the head is aluminum. The metals are dis-similar and their is flowing liquid involved. I am thinking of putting anti-seize on the threads, or Teflon tape as the bare minimum. Anybody have any experience or advice on the subject?

check with Csaba on this, but i think the sender needs to ground through the treads, so tape is a bad idea.

That is correct, evidenced by the fact that only 1 wire goes to them. They ground to the head.

They are tapered threads, so I think what ever is put on the threads will be displaced and metal to metal contact will occur. Well, as long as the sender is tightened hard enough.
