Jerkoff Losers who place ads

Post by 124cso »

Why is it that there are so many Jerks placing ads, especially in the parts for sale section, offering lists of parts or "have parts car-what do you need ?" type ads, but then never replying to those that take the time to read them and offer the seller some busieness ?

Really what is the point ? Or is it a case of "look what I got ! ! " ? ? ?

I can vouch for Lee,I put in a parts request and he took the time to reply to let me know he didnt have the part. Thats a lot more than most people would have done.I have had no bad dealings w/ anyone on this forum ,and hope your bad experience was a isolated case.

it can get a bit annoying.

I always look at the number of posts in the signature for those names i do not recognize. that way, i am not really disappointed if i don't get a reply from some "jerk" who listed a for-sale as his #1 post. We all know that someone who hasn't bothered to spend some social time with us on the forum, generally does not have OUR best interest at heart.

these are the risks we take to not qualify someone before we let them onto the forum.... and we are already getting ridiculed for being too conservative and taking too much time to grant folks access now!

I don't know either the gentleman that posted the offer to sell parts or the other gentleman that took issue with the first gentleman for not giving a public follow up on status of the parts, but my perception is that the second gentleman is a bit harsh here. Name-calling is more likely to stir things up than to resolve any issues. It seems that the original poster has used the private message option to respond to people that asked about his parts (I'm assuming this). Yeh, it would be good if he posted a public note to follow up, but maybe that never occurred to him. He's doing a good service by offering needed items for sale. A friendly suggestion to ask for an update of items sold would be more appropriate than bashing.

I have met this fellow once, and I can vouch for his good intentions. He simply thought that people would PM him, and he has been responding to those who did. (I called him up when I saw the problem.) He did not realize that people would post instead of PM. It's that simple. Now he knows!

Just for the record I was not the one that 124cso was waiting on, and I don't have anything against him, and I do welcome the thoughts of you guys. I appreciate the fact of being able to offer my parts to others to help me keep my cost down and to hopefully help the rest of you guys out too. I'm just grateful to be alive as just managing to whack my self in the eye and lossing vision in it for awhile. amazing how plans change. Anyway thanks for the oportunity and I'll try to be an asset to this comunity as much as I can.

To All,

For the record - I'll also vouch for Lee (leemartin) as well, he has been great - helping me with parts I need, quick and timely responses via PM and coping with the extra hassle of organising shipment to Australia.

This is not a big deal! 124cso sent his email from New Zealand with is a long flight. So it took a long flight to get here and inflight he just got madder and madder, finally saying things that now he wished he had reworded. Oh well. I am sure he will be a little calmer next time.

I've not had any issues on this forum, but overall in the past few months on other sites, ebay and craigslist, I only receive replies about 50% of the time when I email about a car for sale. Maybe the car has sold, or they prefer a phone call, but it seems strange to place an ad to sell a car, then not respond to a potential buyer. One guy oddly replied quickly to tell me he was away from home, and he would send info and pics when he got home in a few days, then NADA! He hasn't replied to emails since.

There's probably some legit reasons for this, but it gets frustrating waiting only to get no response. Oh well, just move along to the next seller.

I've had the same issue with Craigslist, no one ever replies to messages. They don't post a phone or email, just the box then never reply. If the car has sold, why not remove the posting? It's just basic manners, something that seems to be lost in todays' society

Interesting responses !
I had not named the advertiser concerned as I did not want to seem confrontational.

It was not 'leemartin' or any of the other respondants. It was just unfortunate that it was just another advertiser that gave no replies and "I lost it "so to speak. The advertiser has finally responded, probably due to the blunt post I attached to his thread.
Can I suggest that sellers utilize the option below : "notify me when a reply is posted" so the forum can advise them if they have a reply ??

I'll add just a couple more thoughts here. I do know how frustrating it is from both sides to not here back from the seller and then also to not here back from some one that is really interested in my for sale item. We all make mistakes And I know i will too but I want to try my best. thanks for the good advice keep it coming.

Look at the bright side. A least you didn't give your money to some guy, and then never hear from him. That happens all too frequently on the www these days.

Sorry for the delay in jumpingin in this. I realize that Lee is not the inteneded target of this thread, but I wan tto add that he is very good at working with buyers. I've been in contact with him about buying several items from him. The whole time, he has been great! Hes had his issues with his eye injury, and I've had my own issues with figuring out things on my end.
