Hello,
I am installing a new 32/36 DFEV/1800 intake combo on my 70 spider. A couple of questions: 1. the dfev has an electric choke, where do I run the wire from to connect to the carb? 2. The old dmsa has a fuel return line and the dfev does not, do I just plug the old return line?
Thanks Pesto

if you want to keep the return system (pretty good idea), you can install a filter with a return nipple on it. If your old carb had a fuel cutoff solenoid you can use that wire. It needs to be a wire that only has power when the ignition is on

Re: Installing 32/36 DFEV questions
Thank you, I went to the parts store today and got a fuel filter that had a third connection and I used this to connect the fuel return line to. As for the electric choke do I run the wire from the ignition?
Also what does this do?
I took pictures of everything of how everything was hooked up and put labled tape on all the hoses, but as my luck would have it the fuel spilt from removing the fuel pump blurred my lable and I can not find my pictures . I know the hose towards the front goes to the intake manifold but where does the other hose connect to? Also, the PO did not have the charcol cannister connected, so where does it connect to? I'm guessing it connects to the original air cleaner assembly (which isn't in use). I know these are stupid questions, but this car is a lot more complicated than a '68 Ford , so I really do appriciate all the help you all have given me. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.
Thanks Pesto

Re: Installing 32/36 DFEV questions
Hello all. Well I got the intake in and the carb on now I just need to get the linkage connected. I searched a lot of old post about the linkage but they are about the newer cable system. My '70 has the old multi-link system. So the question is what is the best way to hook up the linkage? I got a linkage kit from Allison's but can't figure how it works with the 70's linkage.

for that linkage you only need our linkage adapter and you retain the stock rod. The adapter screws onto the end of the stock rod, then attaches to the throttle lever

Re: Installing 32/36 DFEV questions
Well this is what I came up with. The problem I ran into was due to the design of the wheel on the carb. The connection point to the linkage was just a little before 12 o'clock and when rotating the wheel the carb was fully opened at 2 o'clock, the problem is my linkage would not rotate the wheel past 1 o'clock. So I designed a plate with more connection options and attached it to the wheel. It works great now and I can get the carb fully open. However, do you think the angle is to great from the linkage pivot point and where it connects to the plate?
It operates smothly, doesn't bind and returns great. I might make a new bracket or add a spacer for the linkage to reduce the angle.
Have a great one, Pesto
