I just bought a 1978 124 Spider which is in great shape but was sitting for 8 years. Unfortunately it has a pretty significant oil leak from the right (passenger) side of the engine that is dripping onto the exhaust pipe and causing a lot of smoke and a puddle on the ground. Otherwise the car is excellent.
I degreased the engine and am assuming the leak is from the cam cover gasket, but I am not sure. I have not performed this job before and think it may be best to get a pro involved.
So, does anyone know of a reputable Fiat mechanic in the Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area who they could recommend?
Thanks.
Rob

Thanks. Yes I see our mod has tremendous respect on this site. Too bad my car is not street worth as I would need to have it towed to Upland which could be pretty pricey.
The good news is that I did some additional research and think it may just be the distributor seal, so I will buy one and try it out.
I can't find any great images of the distributor body, bit it looks like it has an external o-ring as well. (Mine is a 1978). is that correct?
