A first

Post by azruss »

Out saturday night to pick up dinner. sat at the light next to an old pickup with 3 young guys. After sitting a bit, the kid in back yells. "Nice whip". another pause and asked what is it. Another pause then "what did you pay for it". This is a first for the last question. I know there are certain questions you dont ask....like with the rich set, you dont ask "what do you do", a woman's birthday, you dont ask how old. Is this one of those? how many time do you get asked the $ question. It actually surprises me that this is the first time i've heard it.

i thought about your question concerning selling your Spider. if i were to sell mine, there would have to be visitation rights written into the bill of sale!

No one ever asked how much i paid for it. They do ask how much i'd take for it? A few months back a guy at a car show asked what i would take for it. I threw out a $20K number and he was genuinly interested. I might have made a buck or two in that deal.

I laughed at the Jim comment too. Been asked about price once, by a young man working at the local pizza parlor. But he asked how much to buy one of those? I gave him a big range trying to encourage him to get one to fix up. Top comments from recent 1600 mile road trip:
1.what year is your spitfire?
2.nice ride, I was going to park right next to you to freak you out, but my wife told me not to.
3.wow, that's a snotty little thing!
4.from elderly woman: you're smart to buy that car now, while you can still get in an out of it!

The other day I was asked by a woman if mine was a "classic Corvette". I politely replied that it is a Fiat. She simply said "Oh" and got in her minivan and drove off.

I told my wife. She rolled her eyes and said, "even I know what a Corvette looks like".

Sitting at a red light, working a Romeo y Julieta. Old bag in the car next to me says, "Those things are bad for you!".
Light turns green, I let out the clutch. "Fiats? Nah!"
