Lada Control Arm Bushings - Insert Size

Post by Gseppe »

I recently purchased a 1981 Spider 2000 and am replacing the control arm bushings. The PO included a box of new bushings for the control arms, but they appear to be for a Lada as the part numbers led to Lada parts when I Googled them on the internet. The lower ones look similar to the originals, but the upper ones have a larger metal insert where the axle bolt goes. I'm not sure if I can use them as the original ones were smaller and the bolt was a perfect fit. I'm afraid the larger insert will allow too much play for the axle bolt and cause problems with steering and suspension performance while driving. Can I use these anyway or do I need to purchase new ones with the smaller insert?

If the inside diameter is larger than the bolt, then do not use then.

Thanks! I guess I'll be ordering new uppers. The lowers seem to be the same size.
