Made the wife happy!!!

Post by juvius »

So now that my car is almost ready for paint, the wife has been eye balling it, making plans.... I went to Akron today and picked up a 74 spider for her so she could leave mine alone. Over all it's in pretty ok shape. drive's seat bottom needs help, dash is cracked, center console has a cap, exhaust is loud and there are a few rust bubbles. there is some rust under the car, but looks like an easy fix... just a few small patches. The guy says it over heats on him, but so far I haven't been able to get it to do it for me. tomorrow, i'll be investigating that further...

looked at it some more today... there's a leak at the thermostat in the block (not enough to cause overheating). but once it heated up, the fan never kicked on and the heater core started dumping coolant on the passenger floor. Luckily, i have a spare fan motor(i think), a spare temp switch, and heater core. so there is my starting point... tonight after it cools down, i'm going to replace the heater core (i know i could bypass it, but it needs done anyways) and replace the thermostat. Once it will get up to temp without dumping coolant, i will diagnose the fan... i'm hoping that's all it takes so it doesn't overheat any more...
