Hello,
I have a 130TC engine (of course modified) in my 124 coupe, but with the sidedrafts and with LHD I have no more the room for mastervac. The previous owner did the swap.
So I would like to go to twin IDF.
I have a FIAT waffle manifold and could put on it 2x40IDF 13/15 used or 2x40IDF 70 new and modified (I think it is possible ?).
But I consider another way : 2x44IDF (new) on another manifold.
The price for 2x44 and new manifold wouldn't be so different than 2x40IDF 70 and waffle manifold as I can find the 44 cheaper and could sell my waffle manifold.
I would sell too my Solex carbs that have machined venturi to achieve 36mm.
So here is my question : which manifold for twin 44 IDF 70 that would help me to go back to brake boost on my lhd car ?
Allison one ?
The one found at Pierce Manifold (Alquati ?)
Mangoletsi ?
And where can I have vacuum pick up for mastervac ???
LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
the top manifold is the one I produce and either 40 or 44 IDFs will fit. It allows use of the booster and it has a vacuum fitting also
Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
Which ever manifold you go with, be sure the opening where the carbs bolt on is the same diameter as the venture opening at the base of the carb. If you stick 44 IDFs on a 40 IDF manifold you may have a lip where the carb base venturi is wider than the opening in the manifold which will affect air flow but worse the butterflys will interfere with the opening on full throttle and not allow the carbs to open up all the way.
Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
Ok thank you, that makes sense to me.
Your manifold looks interesting Mark.
But what about it considering this point ? Is it necessary and possible to open the manifold if necessary ?
I would like to know which steel grade is used for plates and tubes ?
And just another question, do you know the space remaining available for air cleaners ?
Thank you.

Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
Grade of steel? Most intake manifolds are aluminum, so any steel should be almost overkill... but easier to weld.
Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
I know, but in fact I was spoken about the Allison one that seems to be made of stainless steel..
Edit : actually it is steel, I guess ss but I would like to be sure

Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
The second manifold was made by pbs no longer in production I purchased and installed these on a few engines
it's not the best choice may even be the worst option out of the manifolds you have up there. The bend in the
port is so sharp causing restriction in the air flow, I'm never going to one of these again poorly designed in that
regard but a nice looking manifold.

Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
Air flow should very good with Allison one. Assuming there is no big step that couldn't be removed between flanges and tubes.
Re: LHD, Mastervac, and twin 44 IDF 70 ?
I think 40idf would suit but I think 44idf will do the job well too and could accept more bhp in the future. So I have ordered a set of two Weber 44idf 71.
I will may go with the waffle manifold. I got it so I can have a look on the linkage.
Concerning the jetting :
Bought
Venturi 36
Main jet 135
Idle jet 50
Air correction 175
Pump jet 50
Emulsion tube F11
Need ?
