degreeing cams

I'm getting ready to degree my new cams and am wondering if there is a preferred degree kit on the market. I've been doing lots of research and have yet to find a kit that allows me to connect the degree wheel to the crank shaft while still allowing me to use a socket wrench to turn the engine over.

The Internet is full of videos showing this type of adapter for American engines. Am I overlooking something, will this type of adapter work on a Spider?

What did those of you who have done this use to secure the degree wheel? Is there a kit available that worked well on our setup?

Is there a crank nut to degree wheel adapter that works on our engines?

I did print a degree wheel, Glue it on carboard made a hole in the middle to pass the socket and using duct tape, fixing it to the crank pulley

I'm sure you were very careful in your process, how accurate do you feel this was?

It seems to me like I'd have way too many opportunities for error if I tried to take this route. However, I like the idea of drilling a larger hole in a degree wheel, if need be.

Just out of curiosity, when you determined true TDC how accurate was the factory marking on your crank pulley?

To be honest I didn't check it or I don't remember.
The degree wheel didn't move at all but the pointer is critic if you move it it's game over start again. And when I check back my timing it was 110 degree everytime on both cam.
For pointer I use a piece of steel wire and you want to put it as close as possible to the degree wheel without touching it.
Bigger is the degree wheel, more accurate you will be.

thanks for the link. I'm starting to understand what needs to be done, but I am not 100% sure which tools are the best tools for use on our engines.

I'd like to be as accurate as practical.

What tools you only need the big socket for the crank nut, a ratchet and a dial indicator

Don't forget the degree wheel. Plus, I'd really like an adapter to connect the degree wheel to the socket.
