Here is the 1978 single-plane intake manifold cleaned up for installation in my '79 automatic:

The electrovalve plug on the bottom is M16 x 1.5. The vacuum elbow on the side was M10 x 1.5. And the EGR connection in the center of the top was M18 x 1.5 (O2 sensor size). In addition, there was an open hole in the side that was M16 x 1.5 (if I remember right).

Anyway, I bought the plugs off ebay in packs of 5 for just a few bucks. So I have enough to do this a couple more times.

It did clean up the manifold quite a bit, as well as really cleaning up this side of the engine bay on the '79 after eliminating all the pollution crap.

Nice job on "cleaning up" the 1800 manifold with properly-fitting plugs. 8)

If you're wanting a single-port L-shaped tap for the brake booster instead of the double-port "T" that you currently have (shown with red cap on small port of the T), try swapping over the large L-shaped fitting from your old '79 manifold that is on the top/center of the #1 intake runner. I'm not sure if it's the same thread size as the 1800 T fitting, but it might be?

It's shown on the left in your photo here:

Great idea! I'll have to pull that and see. Would look much better.

Now if I could only figure out where to plug in the distributor vacuum, the automatic's vacuum line, etc.

What was the size of the plug in the top of the intake? Don't think I saw that labeled in the pictures.

Thanks for posting this info!

The EGR "valve" is M18 x 1.5, which is the common size for O2 sensor plugs, I got 3 for $8 at a local nut&bolt supplier.

Thanks, after re-reading I noticed that you did state that in one of your earlier posts.

FiatBen,
Nice photos and info on the plug size for the 1800 intake. I just purchased one on ebay and was wondering what would be the best way to plug the choke water line?

Ben,
Did you ever find out what the small port was for? I see you plugged it in later pictures so I'm guessing you came to the conclusion that it wasn't needed. I was curious since I have the same set up on my 79. Mine is also plugged right now.

Steve, I never had any of the experts way in so I have no clue what the smaller vacuum elbow was feeding on the '78. However, my '79 is an automatic and I may have to use it to feed a line that goes into the tranny tunnel. Then again, right not the distributor vacuum is pulling off the carb itself and I'm not sure if that is right either.

70Spider, my 32ADFA has the water choke so I'm using the lines. Typically if I were going to plug a water line, I would find an appropriate sized bolt and a small worm-screw clamp or look at clamping some type of cap on the nipple if that's where the line originated. With this line from the manifold, I would probably shorten it a lot and the plug it with a bolt. I can always go find another manifold in the pile and see if that gives me a better idea if that would help.

Thanks FiatBen, no need to to find the other manifold. I figured I would use a bolt like you said but use some locktight on it.

Fiat Ben,
I am having a problem locating the the plugs. I can get the M18x1.5 (O2 sensor) and I can get a M16x1.5 magnetic oil drain plug ($10), do you think it being magnetic would affect anything? Which vendor on ebay did you use?
