The insurance company wouldn't spend the money that a decent body shop would quote on a repair like this it's
a totaled car now. The owner would have to choose to fix it if he even wanted to fork out the kinda cash it takes
for a job like this it's going to be high. I know some of the guys on here can fix it cause I've seen them do projects
like this but most likely this car is going to melted down and turned into tuna cans and paper clips.
ouch

Re: ouch
The salvage of the good parts could pay for a new car in good condition.

i always wondered why some tuna comes packed in oil and some in water. i guess the cans with oil come from recycled cars.Daniel wrote:The insurance company wouldn't spend the money that a decent body shop would quote on a repair like this it's

Amen to that. Part it out to the greatest extent possible so that others may live and carry on.RRoller123 wrote:The salvage of the good parts could pay for a new car in good condition.

good one!
in my neck of the woods, price of this repair in labour alone wouldn't exceed 2000$ us. you know the price of the parts better than me. i estimate total cost, new inner fender and chasis rail included, not to exceed 4000$.
again, this is half the world away

Re: ouch
Does anyone know how these things work, in terms of buying them from the insurance company? Depending on where in PA that might not be to far from me here in MD.
Edit: didn't realize there was a page 2. Glad it going to a good md not the crusher...

Insurance companies used to allow you to buy the car back from them after it's been labeled as a total lossHolshot wrote:Does anyone know how these things work, in terms of buying them from the insurance company? Depending on where in PA that might not be to far from me here in MD.

which ends up placing a salvage title mark on the car not sure if they still do this? most likely it would still
be the case. They don't want the car but I'm sure they want some of your money
