Re: So Giulia was getting a little lonely, so meet...
Hey Jeff/Alan you guys found me out, lol... And yes she is pissed but it was for a good cause and in the end I think she'll understand! The original tires on the '79 scare me and now that Giulia is undergoing some plastic surgery in the form of an entire new interior so she is not being driven and is wearing the old '79s' shoes temporarily. The '79 is most likely going to keep the '82's hand me downs, haha... But not to bad for some "old" hand me downs. I wish I was that lucky when I was growing up. All I ever got were worn out jeans with patches on the knees
Still working on the bottoms... They were cut wrong and I've been trying to find a way to get them to fit right. I've had to get creative to get them to go on. I guess my set were cut and sewn on a Friday afternoon as many of the panels were an inch larger in some areas. Not to happy with my World kit at the moment. I'm hoping to have them done in the next few days. I've been working on scraping the old tar sound deadening material off the floors which has been a major PITA! Before I lay down the new carpets I plan on laying down some Dynamat then some carpet padding to give the carpets a little more of a plush feel to them. It's slowly but surely coming together.
I like the look of the wheels on the '79 and I'm thinking I'm going to order another set in the same color. They actually look better on the '79 because instead of being a true gunmetal color with a grey undertone it has a metallic brown color so it ties into the tan interior a little better then on the white '82 and now that it's going to have a black interior I'm rethinking the gunmetal (metallic brown in reality) as I originally wanted a black wheel for the '82. The problem is no is stocking the Black Rota's and I would have to have them powder coated. The distributor I've bought all my wheels from is no longer going to carry the Fiat offset and once their remaining stock is gone it's going to hard to get them unless someone else decides to order them and stock them. They told me they could be special ordered but they would much more expensive and they said it could be up to 3 months in wait time. The question is whether to have the entire rim done or leave the polished lips? I'm honestly thinking about going no chrome anywhere on the car and have all the chrome trim wrapped in black vinyl and go for that murdered out look. That a popular option on the BMWs now where all the chrome door trim is blacked out. It's funny, years ago we paid extra to have chrome and now we do the opposite, go figure... I fell in love with this Alfa all blacked out including the trim and love the look...

This is only temporary I can assure you. These have to be the worst looking wheels ever put on by Fiat, what were they thinking! It breaks my heart seeing her like that

Hey! My 79 has worn her original steel wheels all her life, and I happen to like them!!!Holshot wrote:Poor girl...spiderrey wrote:What happened to the original wheels?

Truth be told, after 13 years of ownership, a set of very nice 13" alloy American Racing wheels are on their way for her. Should be here tomorrow! I actually have enjoyed these wheels though, and I do think they are one of the nicer stock steelies...

Hey Jim we're twins, haha... To each their own I always say! I have no love for the stockers and couldn't wait to switch them out but that's just my taste. I was actually going to throw my stock turbo wheels on the '79 but sold them to another forum member. I felt bad going back on my word so I held my end of the bargain while waiting for the payment to get here which took about a month... Post up some pics when you get the new shoes on!
