pictures of facet fuel pump install?

Post by timspider »

Seems pretty straight forward but would love to see anyone's pictures of a facet fuel pump installed in the trunk. Interested in both location and angle.
searched but didn't see it.
thanks

What are they like for noise? I'm collecting bits for an EFI conversion and a lift pump to the surge tank is on the list.

The one in my car is very noisy. I bought another to replace it, but haven't installed it yet so I can't say if it's a general problem or just a bad pump in my car.

I'd be interested to know of a quiet pump if anyone has some recommendations... My '79 came with a, electric fuel pump but as soon as you turn the key to accessory it starts clicking away and it's annoying. It can actually be heard while stopped not so much while cruising. I would love to replace it with something quiet like what you would have in the FI cars, a slight hummmmm barely noticeable.

Great stuff. Thank you.
Next question: what did you use for power? Where did it run from?
Thanks again.

You can grab power right off the coil with a fused line all the way to the pump. I'll snap a pic of mine so you can see where it's hook up.

The 74 has the pump stock so there is a factory harness for mine.

My 78 was mechanical so no harness that I've found. After reading threads on power, I'm thinking a fused line from the coil sounds good, with the addition of a second line from the seat belt warning for priming.
what Guage wire to use?
Any pics at the coil are appreciated as well.
Thanks again

It's very straight forward as the coil is marked with a + symbol and I don't see any real reason for that second line. As soon as I put the key in the ignition and turn to the first click the coil so energized and the pump will start pumping and prime itself almost immediately prior to the full turn of the key to try and start the car. Hope the pics help...

Thank you Giuseppe. Even better than I thought as this takes care of the priming too.
excellent. I think I've got everything needed but the wire to coil.
going wire shopping now.
Just need to figure out gage now.
Enjoy your day!
