Re: 2.0 with dual carbs
ok i changed all the jets, air correction
seem when i go slow it feels like it is bogging down as in miss or less gas. i am not sure. i really dont think it a miss,
but when i stomp. not a hesitation, just slow at 3ooo/4000 rpms. i feels it holding back
WHY

Great response.sptcoupe wrote:The jets you have are very lean for a 2.0L. Try going to 130 or 135 mains, 185 or 195 air correctors, and 57 idles, or at least 55's. This assumes you are running and F11 emulsion tube with 40 IDFs and 32mm chokes. Be sure the floats are set at 32mm open and 10mm closed, and that the carbs are balanced and synchronized. This may help:
http://fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14494
From what you describe, the problem is when you are on the idle jet circuit (running normally) and given that you are running 50's, it is likely the problem is just not enough gas, or an idle jet or jets are clogged with dirt, or both. If your #2 doesn't seem to be getting gas, try cleaning that idle jet first.
When you stomp it, you move to the main/air corrector jet circuit, and there it runs fine, but I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised when you go to larger main jets and stomp it.
Are there any other performance mods on the motor?

Re: 2.0 with dual carbs
I was just reading a article, it said if the 0 rings are damaged or not seated properly the engine will have a popping sound, mine does that, so I will get new ones or see what I can see

Re: 2.0 with dual carbs
Popping sound is more likely lean mixture than O-rings. I've currently got 75 idles, 140 mains and F11 emulsion tubes in mine. I'm waiting on some F16 emulsion tubes, so it can get on to the mains a bit earlier and I can go back down on the idles.fiat218 wrote:I was just reading a article, it said if the 0 rings are damaged or not seated properly the engine will have a popping sound, mine does that, so I will get new ones or see what I can see

Re: 2.0 with dual carbs
A friend was over and he was looking down the carbs when it was at a high speed( sitting at a stand still)
And as he looked down the throats he could see gas a good stream coming out ,but the number one cylinder carb throat ,you could see it was dribbling like a 63 year old man would dribble ( I'm 60) lol
Any ways I turn the mixture screw on tha one and it affected the running when I turned it in but the gas was at the same dribble, either way in turning it, what would cause that?
Ok upon reading a article, it seems something maybe plugged, they say to take it part and clean it. Ummm, that is not a good thing for me to do lol , I know me to well

Re: 2.0 with dual carbs
Are you talking about taking out the weber venturi and replacing it or changing it to a larger size? to remove itfiat218 wrote:How do u measure the Venturi , and how does it get changed? And why would u change it

you'll need take the carb off the engine and access 2 screws that hold the venturi's in place. The size if you mean
physical inlet size they have a number on them normally starting at 32 for a IDF 40 they can be larger up to 36.

Re: 2.0 with dual carbs
Take it to someone who does. There are a huge amount of variables to tinker with to get carbs right. I asked my local Fiat bloke a few weeks ago if he did carb jetting, or if he knew anyone that did, his response was "They're all dead or retired". Venturis are not your issue. If you want bigger venturis, get bigger carbs. I believe general wisdom dictates that the venturis should not be more than 80% of the throttle plates. 32mm venturis are already 80% of 40mm carbs.fiat218 wrote:I really don't have a clue

ok, great idea. there is a guy who has a wheel dyno . he said he would run the engine and set it , i just need to get more size jets so he can see the variables i suppose131 wrote:Take it to someone who does.
