2.0 with dual carbs

Post by fiat218 »

Run. Great . When I stomp on the gas and the car runs good, then right after that it will sounds as it is missing, I do know the number 2 cylinder is not getting gas,,once the plug was dry so that. Is how I knew, bust I'm not. Positive what carbs theses are yet
This afternoon I took the set screw out of it and blew some air into the hole, then replace that screw , I turned in in a few turns and it ran good, but untill I trompton the gas. Again ,then it was missing again, so what is the
Problems. Maybe if I could understand what is going on then I could fix it,
I was thinking about getting a kit for the carbs and have them put in,I will have to take the carbs off just so I can determine what I have
Any. Ideas on why I turns good then when you beat on it then it like starving for gas
I know it. Not missing because. I have new plugs in it

Not uncommon for these to have a bit of crud floating around that can get sucked into a jet when working hard, only to float around again after you turn it off. I had to give my IDFs a clean out the other day for this reason. I've also got 2 filters, 1 before the pump and one on the return line.

The jets you have are very lean for a 2.0L. Try going to 130 or 135 mains, 185 or 195 air correctors, and 57 idles, or at least 55's. This assumes you are running and F11 emulsion tube with 40 IDFs and 32mm chokes. Be sure the floats are set at 32mm open and 10mm closed, and that the carbs are balanced and synchronized. This may help:

From what you describe, the problem is when you are on the idle jet circuit (running normally) and given that you are running 50's, it is likely the problem is just not enough gas, or an idle jet or jets are clogged with dirt, or both. If your #2 doesn't seem to be getting gas, try cleaning that idle jet first.

When you stomp it, you move to the main/air corrector jet circuit, and there it runs fine, but I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised when you go to larger main jets and stomp it.

Are there any other performance mods on the motor?

That's right. The number will be stamped at the bottom of the tube.

carbs are off and i was putting in the upper dash, so i had the key on just checking for power.
well before that i was using gas outside by the door to get the carbs clean, that and brake fluid.
anyways so i smelled gas in the garage, thinking it was from the cleaning i did, well it dawn on me that i can hear the pump running, omg the floor of the garage was full of gas, i bet there was 2 gals . well i knew anything could set that off so i carefully got out of the car and thinking i need to shut the power off in the garage, well i did ,thank god for that / got it cleaned up, cant even imagine what would have happen with one spark, i mean i do know, it waould have been flames of hell and prolly exploded that fiat ,next to it was the other one  pay attention james THINK THINK
