took my cylinder head off last friday, had developed a skip in #4 i suspected a burnt valve by the looks of the vacuum gauge.
sure enough the machine shop had to order a new ex valve for # 4, all hoped it would have arrived so i could put the head back on tomorrow, ups failed me it didn't show, so disappointed, i got so much else going on i won't be able to put it back on for two weeks now. guess i'll make a new alternator mount tomorrow and move it to the right side

Why are you changing your alternator location?

thats a good question, it gives me a little better access to the fuel pump, oil filter mount and oil separator etc

Is heat from the exhaust manifold an issue in relocating the alternator to the right side of the motor? Or is the solution one of those ugly heat shields? :P

The heat shield sends most of the heat down to where your alternator would be. If it were my car, i would leave it be. Once all your oil filter and sending units are in place, you wont need to mess with them again, and changing the filter is not an issue with the alternator on the DS.
