Hello, I'm new to the forum and am having some issues with my car running smoothly and idle.
First off the car takes a while to start and once it does the choke must be all the way out until warm. once warm and the choke is disengaged the car slowly drops in idle speed and dies, also the car seems to be idling and running very rough I do not have must history with this car so starting from scratch is quite daunting, any help on getting me started would be greatly appreciated.
72 124 wont idle correctly
Re: 72 124 wont idle correctly
Need some additional info. Is this car new to you and it has yet to run correctly or have you had the car for awhile and it ran fine before? At the very least, check the ignition timing, make sure the engine ground strap is in place and plan on pulling the carb to clean it.

Those carbs are forever plugging the low speed/idle jet. Find it, remove it and the idle mix screw, piss in hole w carb cleaner, blow out w air, clean out jet, put back together.

Okay thanks guys, the carb is next on the list. Just finished the Ignition timing and replacing all the vacuum lines and fuel lines, also rebuilt the distributor. I have never had the car working perfectly was giving to me in pretty poor shape and I have been working to get it up and running smoothly.
the car idles at 1100 RPM but there is a lot of bucking from the motor which leads me to believe there is a misfire I am starting on the ignition and working my way back. I do believe it is the Carb due to the fact that is has been sitting with gas in it for quite some time.
