See! Spiders DO have "crumple zones."
In all seriousness... I hope the driver is OK. If it's a forum member tell us what happened!

Not me but my guess....either someone backed into it (didn't see it) or a lane change (didn't see it)

Re: ouch
looks like an intersection 90 degree hit with the Fiat carrying most of the speed. once the front tire came in contact with the other vehicle, it bounced the car away saving damage to the door. Could achieve the same damage side swiping a pole or something else hard.

Re: ouch
The PO of my car would have just filled it with bondo!
Reminds me of the the time, this was in Britain in the early 80`s mind you, when my brother had a similar prang in his Mini but without the chassis damage. He basically beat the high spots of the damage back with a hammer and fabricated a whole new wing out of papier mache, covered over with bondo filler and sprayed over it (badly) with rattle can. It looked bloody awful.
When it came time to sell (the clutch was slipping by then) his windscreen wiper mounting was unattached to the body due to severe rot, (His wipers didn`t work anyway) I remember him stuffing old newspaper into the rusted/rotted out hole where the wiper motor should have been and skimming over it with Bondo. He sold off the whole damn plot to some poor unfortunate loser that wanted a cheap car for his wife. A deal was made and he drove away no doubt feeling like a king...

My two cents ain't worth what it used to be

Re: ouch
You're referring to the owner in the present tense, which is good. Hopefully it was just a sad day from a material standpoint and there were no injuries. It looks like the lower control arm snapped at the ball joint. Do you know if that was from the force of the impact or the cause of the accident?Ramzi wrote:We know the owner.... It was a very. Re: ouch
The accident was caused by an old man pulling out in front of him as he was driving down the road. He was not injured, I'm sure the Spider carrying most of the speed helped, and that he did not hit a fixed object.

Re: ouch
Money is the problem. He can buy another one for much less than it takes to fix this.
