window regulators

Post by htchevyii »

Hi guys, How well do your window regulators work? I bought new ones to replace the ones the p.o. stripped out with his vice grip handles & they are giving me fits. The old ones worked ok, were just stripped. I put the new one in & checked &double checked the routing, all the pulleys work fine & the cable is on them, but it operates very stiff. I pulled the new one out and checked it compared to the old one by looping the cable around the vise and the old one was way smoother. I put in the second new one and it works better, but still not good. Are new regulators lousey or am I just stupid? I'm about readly to order a power window kit and thow all of this crap out. thanks

please forgive me in advance if you know this adjusting tip....

you realize, right? the bottom two pulleys at the base of the door will actually change the tension of the cable with a 10mm wrench on the two bolts on the bottom of the door.

is your cable too tight?

I had to loosen the adj pulley & the track at the bottom to get the cable routed, but I think the new reg's just suck. I purchaced a used one and it works great.
