Cowl drain hose

Post by hallgreghall »

Does anyone know where I can get the drain hose that actually goes here?

The previous owner siliconed a hose in and I would like to replace it but can't seem to find one through any of the sites online.

Yes glad you posted this … I need one to don't have anything there at present but don't drive in the rain.. when washing the car I make sure I don't get water in the Cowl, pedantic about water overflow on my newly rebuilt engine.

I don't think there is a hose. Neither of my cars (74 and 81) has one on either side.

My bad - I guess if that's what you're referring to then my cars have them. I didn't consider that a hose - it's just a little rubber nipple that dumps into the engine compartment.

Don't know if this is the part that you need since I only have the fische scans for a '69 spider/coupe, but if it is the same, they are here.

Kinda makes you question the design.. None of my spiders have had those. Seems you could design something more efficient to target water to drain. I try not to drive in the rain or when there is a high probability of rain.

All Spiders have these. On earlier ones it was made mostly of rubber, which disintegrates after a while. Later they went to an all metal type, where only the ends were rubber. They ends had little flaps, likely to keep any possible engine fumes from going into the cowl and thus the passenger compartment.

Around here, they keep the mice out as well.

My spider (1980) didn't have anything on the cowl drain pipes at all. They just drain down past the engine/trans right at the firewall. I don't suppose that would hurt anything over the long haul...
