Auxiliary shaft bushing/bearing 1.8L
I found oil leaking around the front of my auxiliary shaft so I ordered a new bearing set and seal. The invoice from Vick says MUST. be sized after installed. Can anyone explain what that instruction means?

It means that the bearings are over sized on the inside and must be reamed to the correct size after they are in the engine.

I would highly recommend you NOT change the bearing. Just seal.

As it turns out, the new bearing was slightly loose on the journal of the shaft when dry fit before installation, but the process of pressing the bearing into place apparently caused it to bulge so that it did require being honed out. Now that it is done, the motor is much quieter and so far, no sign of a leak.
