DFEV question...

Post by garion »

So I have my car running.. Its at idle, but I see gas being squirted into the barrel.. Here's a vid, where you can see the gas going in... (click to play, I can't embed videos for some reason. Also I cant get vid to work on chrome, but safari and firefox work):

I assume that this is not normal.. Should I be taking the carb apart to see whats up? Or something I can tune?

set the idle speed down, the throttle plate is open far enough to be drawing fuel through the main circuit

Well.. I fixed it... It ended up being several problems...

1. Make sure your timing is set.. I was hugely retarded (timing, not me  ).. Now I have it set at 10 degrees adavanced.. When i did that, the rpms shot up...
2. Which led me turn back the idle screw, as mark suggested...
3. Which turned to my throttle linkage was too short, and it was opening the plates..

Fixing all those, and now she just purrs.... Now onto my old nemesis, why the hell the thermostat won't open... Then its to eweak the alignment and I'm good to go!
