that is the same one I have in mine.... it is soooo slippery ... gloves are a must have for some aggressive driving for mine ... but I like that look ...not sure my car is nice enough for a wood wheel ... would look out of place I think .... yours cleaned up nice

thanks matt... i'm not completely set on wood, but i do want something different... especially a smaller diameter. my knee got caught between the steering wheel and shifter.. though that might be remedied by the short shifter i bought to put in it, once i get that far in the build...

not too much to report. i've been working on the doors, making decent progress. i hope to have them ready to put on by tomorrow night... i'll submit some pics when they are done. i did get the steering/pedal assembly redone... turned out pretty nice:

primer is great at hiding all wrinkles and dents. After you finish block sanding the primer, lay the door flat and spray diluted windex on the panel and let it flow. Now look across the surface at the reflection and you will really see how good of a job you did. Here is what it looks like wet.

Thanks azruss.... I bought that DVD by Kevin tetz and he Saud to do that also. Right now I'm shooting for getting all the panels straight and getting them on the car. Then I plan on blocking out what I've done to get it even closer. After that I'm going to spray the gallon if eastwoods contour polyester primer then blocking it all again to perfect. Supposed to be more like a spray filler. Followed up with 2k primer/sealer. Does that sound like a decent plan?

A couple of things to think about. If you are getting the panels very flat now, you may not want to mess with a filler type primer. This primer is designed to be a first layer primer with good build characteristic and sandable. This is the product to be using to get that inital flat. I used epoxy as you can change the mix to use it has a build coat or a sealer coat. I can attest it stands the test of time as i had primer exposed to the Arizona sun for well over a year, and it didnt deteriorate. Ive done lots with polyester, but never used a polyester primer. Whatever primer you are using, stick with that product all the way through. Anytime you sand through a layer of paint, you are now sanding on layers of different hardness. This will create problems as the layers will not remove at the same rate, thus making your flat surface worse. If you use the same catalyzed primer your sublayers will be closer to the same hardness as your top layer and minimize this problem. On your final prime, you should not sand through that layer, as your color coat will not flow over the different layers at the same rate. You want the final primer surface to be same coat.
