I have to give props to Mazda despite the Barbie car image the Miata has. They set out to capture the spirit of the 60s European sports cars with their simplicity and nimble nature, but wanted to add reliability. Love or hate the cars, I think they were pretty brilliant and did accomplish the task. They could have done it better though. This is a Miata conversion kit. This is how the car should have looked originally in my opinion:
