Timing belt

Post by fiat218 »

Friend had his engine re build, in putting the belt on and Turing over the engine 4 times,
The belt runs on the edge of the tensioner, is that how it rides?
Does the tensioner pulley have a outer flange on it

do you mean the belt is slightly off the pulley or butted up against the end? maybe a photo would help.

I remember after doing the belt and spinning the engine by hand that I was worried about the belt not being centered in a couple of spots.... all that went away after start up and belt just sort of found its place

My belts on the edge of the tensioner as well. Hoping it would ride in the middle but no luck after startup. Does there need to be an extra washer behind or does it have to sit directly on the back? Can't remember when I put the tensioner back on.
