Hi,
After many years and much more money that I ever thought possible, I think my Spider's ready for the big drives.
One goal this summer is July 4 in Smalltown, New England, incorporating a drive to the top of Mt. Washington via the fabled Kancamagus Highway.
Mt. Washington, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi, tops out at 6288feet above sea level (amsl), the surrounding foothills of the Presidential range sit at 1880-3000ft amsl as does the section of Vermont on my trail.
Will I need to stop and rejet my 32/36 DFEV? Should I jet it lean from the start? (It lives at about 300ft amsl.)
Thanks,
Mark

You should be fine. I've driven from 0 - 5000 ft and up and down and up again to 6500 without changing jets or making adjustments. One man's experience, and I don't live in high altitude, that's just from a drive north out of Atlanta years ago into NC and SC.

Just be prepared for the Kanky to be a mess after this winter. Lovely drive though! Great idea. On the West end in Lincoln is Brittany's restaurant, great for breakfast. You can take the gondola up Loon Mt. too in the summer, and the view is really nice. Also, the Cannon Mt. gondola runs in the summer, just go up Franconia notch a few miles. Unfortunately the Old Man Of The Mountains is kaput as of a few years ago. But definitely stop at "The Basin" for a beautiful short walk, and "The Flume" is really nice too. If you want a beautiful but reasonably short hike, go up Cascade Brook. Nothing but nice drives and scenery up there.

your main issue will not be jettting, but braking coming down mt washington, do not bother with the carb, it will run a little more poorly near the top, but that will clear quickly on the way down. been there done that many

Hi,
Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions! Quite reassuring.
I figure the braking will be all engine, and after the NJ Palisades Pothole Garden let the Kancamagus do its worst!
Thanks again,
Mark
