Best place to get parts?
Best place to get parts?
Well, as a new Spider owner, I took my "new" jewel into my mechanic to check it out before driving it any distance. He found a number of problems with the front end and seems to have difficulty locating parts. I am out in the Palm Springs/Yucca Valley area of Southern California and would like to know the best/most reliable place to get parts (just read the posting re: Ed and Caribou - not there if I can help it) and within days rather than months. Any help would be appreciated, as i'd like to get on the road.
I've used both Vick's amd IAP and have been very happy with them.

Jon's picked two of my favorite vendors. Fast, reliable service, and always there to give some tech support over the phone, and via email.
I rebuilt my entire front end with new parts from International-Auto. Vicks has helped greatly with brakes. Your mechanic shouldn't have trouble finding stuff here.
Also, check out Bruce's at http://www.fiatparts.com
Also, check out Bayless, Inc at http://www.baylessfiat.com
I've found Bruce to be good with advice as well. All four of the above mentioned have a downloadable catalogue, and at least the first two have a catalogue to mail out.
I would not suggest the vendor you mentioned.
Of course, once you get more specific on what you need, the guys that use these forums regularly (like Jon) have their own parts cars, and are always willing to part with a few spare items from time to time.
I'd also inquire of the folks at this forum which mechanics they would recommend in your area. You'd be surprised how many Fiat friendly professionals there are in your area. Your chosen mechanic (not to talk bad about him in any way) may not be the guy you really wanna deal with for this vehicle, especially since he's not internet savvy.
There are, of course other parts dealers out there. I've not dealt with any that I've not mentioned. I've only had bad experience with the guy you mentioned.
