FI Issues

Post by Meistro »

Hello All.

I just got my engine running and I noticed that if I do not start the thing up at least every 3 days it will have a very difficult time starting and running until it warms up then no problem.

It took about 6 minutes of cranking and keeping the throttle at WOT for 2 minutes to get it to run after a couple of weeks. It sounded like it was running on one cyl at first!

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?? :?: Maybe there is a wire not connected somewhere??

I am out of ideas. Any help will be appreciated. :)

I have yet to replace the plug wires, although they tested good.

Yes the cold injector is working, as it is so rich that it burns the eyes.

It seems like it loses its memory of how it should run. if that makes sense.

It starts to fire on one plug, with the throttle about 3/4 down. If I leave it there it runs that way on one cylinder for around 30 sec then starts on another, which it then dies. This goes on for around 4 to 5 minutes and then it quits. When I restart it starts good, on all 4 cylinders but it is flooded. Takes a few minutes to get it running, but when it does it runs good and restarts good every other time after that.

If I run it every few days this never happens. ??

have you pulled the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator to check for a failed diaphragm? If it's that rich, I'd also check the resistance of the coolant temp sensor. Another possibility is a stuck air flow meter door
