Doing your head gasket in the sand was no understatement. That image is worth a thousand words! What a ride :!:

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the nice words! I loved that car! I was a 19 year old Marine back in the mid 80's, and that car was SO much fun, and it got my friends & I into & out of SO much trouble! ;-)

Yoav Gilad at Petrolicious was very enthusiastic & patient while interviewing me for that little article. He's a good guy, and I like the hard word they're doing to grow & develop Petrolicious.

Here are a few other pictures & some backstory....

The 'borrowed' license plate that got the car back to base:

Here you can see the damage after it got rear ended in Waikiki:

The dreaded Alfa I traded for:

Another shot of the headgasket replacement in the sand:

These days, I still do my major engine work outside, but at least I'm not in the sand!

Those of you who have met me know I sure don't look like that young 19 year old version of myself anymore:

...but I still have the same attitude & love of these cars!

Lee, What a survivor she was, she ate sand for breakfast, inhaled a Hawaiian saltwater-fuel mix and endured a swift kick in the butt...you squeezed out every useful mile out of her useful life...your '83 looked sharp too...congrats may the memories live forever.

Don't worry Lee, I'm still living the dream for ya out here in an orange 78. I stay out of Waikiki, it's hard to drive with all the "beautiful scenery" walking around.

Hey Matt

I'm sure you and your family are doing well.

I really enjoyed my short time with you and still remember "deferred maintenance" for much of the housing there. It was nice talking Fiat with you too! I still consider moving there because it really is another country.
