i parked my spider in NYC at an out door parking garage. when i came back a few hours later, a different attendant was on duty. i pointed to my car and said "wow. that's a cool car." he said "yeah. i think it's a porche or a ferrari". i handed him my ticket and he did a double take when he realized it was my car. he asked what year it was and i told him 1975 (making the car MUCH older than he is). he just shook his head.

Mostly, i get comments from folks who have had them in the past. at traffic lights they roll down their windows and say "hey, i had a spider! loved that car! yours looks great!". makes you smile. :)

On my way to Florida, I got a lot of thumbs up
Some young gal ( 10 / 11 ) at a gas station ask me if that was a 68 , I was impressed ,she did not know what kind of car it was but really close on the year

Last time this topic went around I posted this. I still get a kick out of it.

My Spider always gets thumbs ups, shout outs and when parked some nice conversations. My 128 wagon seems to evoke much more attention however and many fond memories. The best thing is they always makes people smile. :)

Ustinov

Post by tartan18 »

Locally we have a rather large number of Ustitnovs. You probably do too. I meet them all the time. They walk up to my car and introduce themselves. "Hi ... I Ustinov one of those." Or they are related to a Ustinov, "My neighbor Ustinov one of those." Makes me smile  and think I should name my car Peter.

I'm sure you have. And most of it is probably true. Did you know we have a beautiful new car museum? Some people refer to it as the Silver Slug.
