Weber IDF40 10-12

Post by Wfolland »

Just purchased twin 40 IDF's on a fiat waffle manifold , carb's are marked 40-10 and 40-12, are vintage units made in Bologna Italy. Anyone know what the -10 and-12 represents, can't find any info to date . I need to replace the four mixture screws ,anyone got this item for sale?

The numbers following the carburetor type (e.g. IDF) indicate a variation of the basic carburetor. For FIATs the original IDFs, which were never sold in the USA, were 40IDF13 and 15, each had PCV valves and one had a throttle connection on both sides, the other had one just in the middle, facing inwards, so that the carbs could be connected together. You can find all manner of variations, especially on the VW or Porsche ones, as the models were upgraded throughout the years.

I recently required one, I found a couple of sources, but they weren't particularly cheap, so I turned one up on a lathe from an M4 stainless bolt.

Mick, you remember the source that had the idle mixture screws?

Have the same carb/manifold setup. Purchased replacement Idle mixture screws on Ebay, non seem to be the proper length ,too short. By any chance can you take a photo of the area on your carbs that the mixture screws are located and send it to me? Thanks

Plus One on pierce manifolds.com. I needed an idle mixture screw and they had the correct part.
Best to call them rather than try to sort it on the web site -good as it is
