Wheel Choices

Hello Everyone, hope the day has treated you well.

but was wondering do they fit the 70 Spider? They say they do but going from a 13" to 15" wheel seems like a big increase in size. Plus with the 15" what tire would I need to maintain the correct O.D.?
Any picks of other wheels would be cool to look at.

you have 2 issues to resolve. First is to find out if the bolt pattern is 98mm. The other is the offset. Most of these wheels are 100mm and would require adaptors or wobble bolts. The offset can be changed with shims, but you need to know what you have. There may be some numbers on the wheel that will give you this information.

The wheel in that photo is a 98x4 fits the fiat great, and I just put a set on mine 15x7.5 with 205/50/15s. Does not rub at all, looks awesome and handles insanely well. Improved ride quality too. spidermark sells them. I think he is so-cal-mark on here and has a store link on his signature

Thanks for the input, The ones in the photo are 4x98 pattern 15 x 7.5 w/15mm offset. The tire you suggested is the same size that is on my Mazda.

Those wheels always look amazing on Spiders. Allison Automotive carries them and a couple of other very cool choices including those in different shades. Another very cool looking wheel is available thru AutoRicambi and is a 15" wheel done in the style of vintage Roosevelts. those really look awesome on early, small bumper cars too.

They fit great. Here's the hypersilver on my car. My tire height is nearly identical to the 13" stock tires.

Here is my car (Italian Racing Green) with the Hyper Silver 15" wheels with 205/50/15 tires. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, my ride height is, to my eyes, great.

My personal opinion is to stay with 13" wheels, or at least something more stock looking.

While I like the look of the two cars pictured above, they look very modern with those 15" wheels. You have a somewhat rare 70 Spider, so my thinking is, keep it stock looking. However if your looking to make your 70 Spider look like something from the 21st century instead of when it was built, then I would say go ahead and make the jump. But I think you will lose the period correctness if you go with the wheels pictured.

90% of my rationale for switching to these rims was availability of tires. Good tires in 13" are getting harder to find and getting quite expensive. The 15" tires were much easier to find. I also found the handling to be a huge improvement with the low profile tires.

Re Jim's comment...just keep the stock rims and tires stored away in case you want to go back to original rims or sell the car. I have mine sitting in my garage. Since switching to the 15s, I have received many compliments on my rims and on my car. I got compliments before but I get many more now.
