Re: Need advice
Cream
Seriously, changing the color of your car is a huge pain, as you have to paint the door jambs, inside the trunk and engine compartments, etc.
Cream was one of the most popular colors when these cars were new.

Re: Need advice
Best colour... red now, what red is a another matter.....
As mentioned changing colour is a pain to do it properly. I changed mine from the root-beer brown to...yes , red and took it down to metal, repaired the rust that was found and painted. The engine bay was painted, trunk, seats out and interior painted... 4 liters of paint later ended up being a shite job and then repeated on the outside only though for the second time .
Cream is not a bad colour. There was a fellow here years ago that re painted his cream coloured car with a pearl/ivory with a bit of flake I think in it and it looked great. not a radical colour change that might not make one have to paint the interior as well.

Re: Need advice
The original color is usually best but if you do a color change I think red is the best.
I was looking for the right red and found Tornado Red (VW color) had just the right look.

Re: Need advice
Its Italian right? Rosso Corsa.
Re: Need advice
The cream color is a classy color, I had one the same years ago. Really evoked some nice comments.
Did you buy the one out of Maryland?? It was on ebay a few weeks back?
Change the color and you'll change the value (down).
Red, Black Scream Italian sports car. I've had both and I think the cars looked great
The light blue, cream, sage all with tan interiors just say classy to me.
OK that's only my opinion
But you will definitely decrease the value of the car

Re: Need advice
I own a cream colored one and seem to be the only one not happy about it. Whenever I go to a meet I seem to be the only one there with that color. I would like to change but the wife and everyone else that matters likes it so it will stay. I'm always on the lookout for an early model so I can build and paint to my liking. This is just me. Do what you feel is best as far as paint goes for you. Red and black seem to be popular colors and I would be happy with either. Sometimes you have to give a little , to get little.

Re: Need advice
I love the cream color. It is an easy care color, is timeless and fits the lines of the car very well. Every time I see one, it reminds me how much i like the color.

Re: Need advice
Keep the cream, especially if it shines up well. Spend the money on a sweet leather interior in dark red or maybe baseball glove tan.

Re: Need advice
I Agree with George, contrast the interior and it will look great, I just changed my Blue interior to dark Red, all though my car is silver and blue is contrasting, I have always loved the dark red.georgeramos wrote:Keep the cream, especially if it shines up well. Maybe do some photoshop options to see what you like best, as others have mentioned changing colour properly is a headache, costs a lot and often reduces resale value if a purist is going to buy the car.

I would keep it original.
But if you really don't like cream, Rosso.

Re: Need advice
It is far easier - and far less expensive - to replace the interior bits with a different color than it is to change the paint color. If the interior is truly the white/cream interior then it is very rare and you could probably clean it up and sell it to someone who needs the parts.
A well executed color change is a lot of work, from removing the engine and most of the suspension and exhaust to every single thing on the body, cataloging every part, etc. A labor of love that will take your car off the road for a year unless you just have unlimited time to play.
A good paint job costs thousands of dollars.
